Breakthrough Study Shows Reversal of Incurable Heart Disease
Three patients with transthyretin cardiac amyloidopathy (ATTR-CM), a rare and progressive heart condition, have spontaneously recovered from the disorder, according to scientists from University College London. The researchers believe that the recovery may have been due to an immune response, suggesting that antibody treatments could be effective against the condition. The findings may lead to new treatments and possibly even a cure for the condition, which currently has no therapy that can reverse it.
