Lost Theater of Emperor Nero Unearthed in Rome's Hotel Excavations
The ruins of Nero's Theatre, a long-lost imperial theatre mentioned in ancient Roman texts, have been discovered beneath the garden of a future Four Seasons hotel near the Vatican in Rome. Archaeologists excavating the site have uncovered marble columns, plaster adorned with gold leaf, and rare artifacts such as 10th-century colored glass goblets and pottery pieces, shedding light on a little-known period in Rome's history. The findings confirm the existence and location of Nero's Theatre, as described by Pliny the Elder. The movable antiquities will be taken to a museum, while the theatre ruins will be covered again after further studies.
