"Rick Fox's Innovative House: A CO2 Vacuum for the Environment"
Former NBA player and actor Rick Fox, CEO and co-founder of sustainable building materials startup Partanna, has unveiled a new house in the Bahamas made with an alternative concrete that absorbs CO2 from the air. The goal is to build 999 more homes like it to combat climate change and reduce pollution from construction. The concrete, made without carbon-intensive cement, uses brine from desalination plants and a byproduct of steel production called slag. Partanna's mixture can cure at ambient temperatures and absorbs CO2 from the air, making it "carbon negative." The Bahamian government is partnering with Partanna to build 1,000 homes, starting with a community of 29 houses.
