The study found that resistance training reduced the formation of beta-amyloid plaques and normalized levels of corticosterone, a stress hormone linked to Alzheimer's. The anti-inflammatory effects of resistance training are believed to be a primary reason for its effectiveness in staving off Alzheimer's. The researchers concluded that resistance exercise could serve as an affordable and accessible therapy for Alzheimer's patients, with just four weeks of training shown to reverse behavioral and physical alterations associated with the disease.
