Pritzker Launches National Group to Champion Abortion Rights

Illinois Governor JB Pritzker has launched Think Big America, a national nonprofit group aimed at protecting and expanding abortion rights across the United States. The organization plans to focus on promoting ballot measures that would codify abortion rights and is currently supporting measures in Nevada, Ohio, and Arizona. Think Big America, modeled after NextGen America, will operate as a 501(c)(4) issue-advocacy organization and is funded by Pritzker. The group's board of directors includes several Pritzker allies, and it also has plans to address other issues such as book bans, LGBTQ rights, and gender-affirming care.

Vermont's Assisted Suicide Law Now Open to Nonresidents.

Vermont has become the first state in the US to allow terminally ill people from out of state to take advantage of its medically assisted suicide law. The state's governor signed a bill that removes the residency requirement for the decades-old law. Vermont is one of 10 states that allow medically assisted suicide. Critics of such laws say without the residency requirements states risk becoming assisted suicide tourism destinations. Supporters of Vermont’s medically assisted suicide law say it has stringent safeguards.
