A 2019 failed lunar landing by Israel's Beresheet spacecraft left behind a capsule containing tardigrades and human cells on the Moon. Given tardigrades' extreme resilience, there's a possibility they could survive on the lunar surface and potentially be revived if recovered, though this remains highly uncertain and technically challenging.
