Hurricane Franklin has strengthened into a minimal hurricane and is expected to become a major cyclone while moving between the U.S. and Bermuda. The storm is forecasted to pass several hundred miles off the mid-Atlantic coast and is not expected to make landfall in the U.S. However, the Southeast and mid-Atlantic coasts may experience big swells and dangerous rip currents through the Labor Day weekend. Waves off the coast of North Carolina could reach 9 to 12 feet by next Wednesday.
