Beijing and other parts of northern China are experiencing a severe cold snap with blizzards, heavy snowfall, and plummeting temperatures. Authorities have issued alerts, leading to the closure of schools, suspension of train services, and urging people to stay home. The cold wave is expected to be one of the most severe in December, with temperatures dropping as low as minus 18 degrees Celsius (minus 0.4 degrees Fahrenheit). The National Meteorological Centre has issued its first freezing alert since 2013 and warned of wide rain and snowfall in central and eastern regions.
