India Successfully Tests Launch Escape System for Astronaut Missions

India successfully conducted an uncrewed emergency escape system test, marking a significant step towards its goal of independent human spaceflight capabilities. The test involved launching a test version of the Gaganyaan crew module, which separated from the Crew Escape System at an altitude of 16.9 km. The module descended into the sea using parachutes and was recovered by teams. India plans to launch its Gaganyaan human spaceflight mission in 2025, following further tests, and aims to become the fourth country to achieve independent human spaceflight capabilities.
