Kamala Harris pledges $100M aid for Caribbean during official visit.

US Vice President Kamala Harris announced that the US is investing over $100m in the Caribbean region to combat weapons trafficking, support climate change initiatives, and alleviate Haiti's humanitarian crisis. The US justice department will appoint a coordinator to oversee cases involving illegal weapons smuggling in the Caribbean, and the state department will help improve forensic work and strengthen local police departments. The US will also help Haiti's National Police investigate and prosecute crimes with US ties that involve gangs, weapons smuggling, and human trafficking. The US Agency for International Development (USAID) will invest nearly $54m in Haiti to help fight starvation and provide access to potable water and healthcare.
