Norway royal scandal widens as crown princess’s son charged with narcotics offense alongside rape cases

Marius Borg Hoiby, son of Norway’s Crown Princess Mette-Marit, has been indicted on six counts, adding a serious narcotics offense tied to a 2020 marijuana seizure to the four rape charges he already faces. Prosecutors say two counts involve restraining-order violations and three are traffic offenses. Hoiby admits to the marijuana crime, denies the rape charges, and the main Oslo district court hearing is set for Feb. 3–Mar. 13, with earlier alleged assaults dating from 2018, 2023 and 2024.
