US NATO Envoy Signals Interest in Strengthening Ties with India

The US NATO envoy, Julianne Smith, has said that the NATO alliance is open to more engagement with India if the country is interested, but there are no plans to expand this to a broader global military alliance. Smith also highlighted India's role in the Russia-Ukraine war and appreciated India's humanitarian assistance to Ukraine. She further mentioned that NATO has started to mention the Asia-Pacific and the Indo-Pacific in some of its strategic documents and is bringing its friends from the Indo-Pacific to NATO HQ into ministerial to learn from their experiences and challenges to security.
