Foreign ministers of the Brics group of nations have called for a rebalancing of the global order away from Western nations, citing geopolitical tension, inequality, and global insecurity. The Brics group, consisting of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, is seen by some as an alternative to the G7 group of developed nations. The International Criminal Court (ICC) has issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin over allegations of war crimes in Ukraine, which has clouded talks. South Africa, a member of the ICC, would be obliged to arrest Putin if he attends a Brics summit scheduled for Johannesburg in August.
