Uganda President Remains Defiant as World Bank Suspends Funding over LGBT Law

Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni has criticized the World Bank's decision to suspend new funding in response to Uganda's harsh anti-LGBTQ law, vowing to find alternative sources of credit. The law, which imposes the death penalty for certain same-sex acts, has drawn widespread condemnation. Museveni stated that Uganda would not give in to pressure from foreign institutions and could borrow from other sources if needed. He also expressed hope that the World Bank would reconsider its decision.
