NASA has released X-ray images of a dead collapsed star located 16,000 light-years from Earth, revealing a "ghostly cosmic hand" structure. The remnants of the collapsed star, known as MSH 15-52, resemble the bones of a human hand and were first discovered by NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory in 2001. The recent observations from NASA's Imaging X-ray Polarimetry Explorer (IXPE) have provided scientists with the first map of the magnetic field in the hand-shaped nebula. The data suggests that particles are given an energy boost in turbulent regions near the pulsar, providing insights into how pulsars can act as particle accelerators.
