"True Colors of Uranus and Neptune Unveiled in Latest Astronomical Images"

Recent analysis of Voyager 2's images, supplemented by data from the Hubble Space Telescope and the European Space Agency's Very Large Telescope, has revealed that Uranus and Neptune are actually similar shades of greenish-blue. This corrects the long-standing misconception that Neptune was a deeper blue compared to Uranus, which was thought to be paler. The difference in color is attributed to the presence and distribution of methane in their atmospheres, with Uranus appearing slightly whiter due to a more stagnant atmosphere allowing methane haze to accumulate more. This study, published in the Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, provides the most accurate representation of the planets' true colors to date.
