Rare 'Ring of Fire' Solar Eclipse to Illuminate Western US and Central/South America

A rare "ring of fire" solar eclipse will occur on Saturday, visible to tens of millions of people in the Americas. The eclipse, also known as an annular solar eclipse, will create a bright border around the moon as it passes between Earth and the sun. The path of annularity will stretch from Oregon to Brazil, with a partial eclipse visible across the rest of the Western Hemisphere.
