40% of Americans Unaware They Have Hypertension

A report from the National Center for Health Statistics reveals that approximately 41% of U.S. adults with hypertension are unaware of their condition. Hypertension, defined by the American College of Cardiology as having a systolic blood pressure of 130 mm Hg or higher, or a diastolic pressure of 80 mm Hg or higher, can lead to increased risks of heart disease and stroke if left untreated.
