Lahaina Reopens to Property Owners and Renters, Escorted Visits Begin

Maui County officials are implementing a zone and pass system to allow property owners and renters affected by the Lahaina wildfire to re-enter the disaster area starting on September 25. Passholders will be accompanied by volunteers and county employees on supervised visits to search for personal belongings and grieve. Pregnant women, children, and vulnerable individuals are advised to stay away. The county will provide protective gear and guidance on handling toxic ash.
