A team of students from Brown University has successfully deorbited a low-cost cube satellite named SBUDNIC, which used a plastic drag sail to increase atmospheric drag and hasten its reentry. The satellite's reentry marked the successful conclusion of an experiment aimed at reducing space debris, five years ahead of schedule.
