A jet from the supermassive black hole AT2018hyz—nicknamed Jetty McJetface—has brightened over four years to become one of the universe’s most energetic events. The radio emission is now at least a trillion times more energetic than the Death Star and is predicted to peak around 2027, as the star‑shredding tidal disruption powers an increasingly powerful jet that is likely not aimed at Earth.
