Solar Threat: Massive Hole in the Sun Poses Dangers to Earth

A massive hole, measuring more than 60 times the diameter of the Earth, has opened up in the Sun's atmosphere. These coronal holes occur when the Sun's magnetic field allows a stream of its upper atmosphere to pour out as solar wind. While this can potentially cause disruptions to satellites and the electrical grid, scientists are not expecting any major disruptions from this particular hole. The Sun's solar activity is currently stronger than expected, indicating that more awe-inspiring events may occur in the near future.
