Optimal Technique for Higher Swings Confirmed by Scientists

Scientists from Jumonji University in Japan have developed a mathematical model to explain the best way to make swings go higher. The model suggests that when the swing is at the bottom of the arc and moving forward, the person should move their upper body backwards. But once the swing starts to gain height, the person should start to lean back earlier, when the swing is at the furthest part of the backswing. The researchers suggest swingers may be subconsciously reacting to a centrifugal force that makes them lean back at certain points of the swing arc.
