Researchers at the University of Manchester have developed a building material, called StarCrete, that is twice as strong as concrete and can be made using potato starch, salt, and a little extra-terrestrial dust. The material can be produced without heavy processing equipment or extreme heat, making it a feasible option for building structures on the moon and Mars. The team has launched a crowdfunding campaign to continue developing the material, which can also be used as a greener alternative to traditional concrete on Earth.
