"280,000 Photos Create Stunning Interactive GIGAMOON Image"

Photographer Andrew McCarthy has created an interactive image of the Moon called 'The Gigamoon' by stitching together 280,000 individual photos. The image illuminates well-known landmarks such as the Apollo landing sites and recognisable craters such as Copernicus, Tycho, Plato, Eratosthenes and Clavius. The photograph was taken entirely from McCarthy's backyard in Arizona using two telescopes, and offers the clearest view of the Moon he has ever seen.
