Three US states, California, Massachusetts, and Washington, are stockpiling medication used to induce abortions as a major abortion pill, mifepristone, appears to be potentially unavailable in the country. The states are stocking up on misoprostol, a drug used in combination with mifepristone, which is now the subject of legal battles in federal courts. More than half of abortions in the US are now medication abortions, and the vast majority of those involve the two-drug protocol, which is considered the gold standard here.
