TL;DR Summary

A Moroccan study used computer models to screen 11 aloe vera compounds for binding to the Alzheimer's-related enzymes acetylcholinesterase (AChE) and butyrylcholinesterase (BChE). Beta sitosterol showed the strongest predicted binding to both enzymes and favorable ADMET properties, suggesting it could help preserve acetylcholine levels. Succinic acid also showed promise. All results are computational with no lab or human trials yet, so further research is needed before any treatment conclusions. The study appears in Current Pharmaceutical Analysis (2025).
