Living with a Rare 'Suicide Disease': A Survivor's Story

A man known as Josh has survived multiple near-death experiences and battles trigeminal neuralgia (TGN), a condition so painful it's called 'suicide disease.' Despite surviving incidents like being stillborn and a car accident, Josh's TGN, triggered by a sinus infection, causes excruciating pain likened to being burned alive. While he has been symptom-free for 12 years, TGN often requires surgical intervention for relief. The condition affects the trigeminal nerve, causing severe facial pain, and is estimated to have 10,000 to 15,000 new cases annually in the US.
