"11 Early Warning Signs of Alzheimer's Disease"
A new study has found that a quick test called the Harvard Automated Phone Task can detect if a senior is at risk for Alzheimer’s disease. The test involves three things an elderly person may need to do via phone in the course of their daily lives. Researchers found that participants with elevated levels of amyloid and tau proteins who performed poorly on the tasks tended to have higher levels of cognitive impairment. The Alzheimer's Association recommends screening tools like the Mini-Cog for those concerned they or a loved one may be developing Alzheimer’s disease. Warning signs of the condition include difficulty performing daily tasks, repetition, struggling to find the right word, and getting lost.
