An Ankeny mom, Lisa Lund, who battled stage-four lymphoma, has released a child-friendly book titled "My Mommy's Greatest Adventure" to explain her cancer diagnosis to her young daughters. Lund, who has been in remission since November 2020, wanted to be open with her children about her illness without scaring them. The book includes child-friendly explanations for her absence during treatments, such as hiking in the Grand Canyon or eating a lot of ice cream. Lund's experience has led to a shift in her perspective, appreciating each day and not taking anything for granted.
