Ancient Assyrian Deity Monument Discovered Beneath Iraqi Palace

Heidelberg University archaeologists uncovered a massive 12-ton relief depicting Assyrian deities and King Ashurbanipal in Nineveh, Iraq, revealing unique religious iconography and offering new insights into Assyrian royal and religious practices. The relief, originally part of the North Palace, was buried since the Hellenistic period and is planned to be restored and displayed publicly.
