"Quack Attack: France Launches Massive Duck Vaccination Campaign"

France has launched a mass vaccination campaign to protect its 64 million ducks from a deadly strain of bird flu and to support the production of foie gras. The vaccination program, the first of its kind in the European Union, aims to prevent the spread of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI), which has led to the culling of over 30 million birds in France in the past three years. However, the United States has responded by announcing restrictions on imports of ducks and other poultry from Europe, citing the risk of introducing the disease. The French government's vaccination program will be compulsory for farms with more than 250 ducks, with the first shot administered to 10-day-old chicks followed by a second dose eight days later. The program is expected to be a significant technical and financial challenge, with the government covering 85% of the cost.
