Tesla's NACS Charging Standard Gains Traction with Volkswagen, Electrify America, and More

Volkswagen is in talks with Tesla to adopt Tesla's North American Charging Standard (NACS) for its electric cars sold in North America. Several other manufacturers, including Ford, General Motors, Rivian, Volvo, and Polestar, have already announced a switch to NACS. However, Volkswagen may be concerned about the compatibility of NACS with its high-voltage battery systems, as Tesla's Superchargers currently only support up to 500 V. Once a clear path to 1,000 V charging is established, more EV manufacturers are likely to make the switch to NACS.
