Texas Suburbs Experience Population Growth Amid Sun Belt Shift and Flex Office Boom.

Texas' population has surpassed 30 million, with 158 counties seeing an increase in population and 95 experiencing a decline. Kaufman County grew the fastest, while Loving County had the largest percent decrease. Migration accounted for most of the population increase in the state's largest counties, with the exception of Dallas and El Paso. Inward migration continues to drive much of the population growth in the Austin metro area. Harris County is the largest in the state, while Loving County remains the smallest. Texas is the fourth-fastest-growing state in the US, with a population increase of 1.6% between 2021 and 2022.
