Waffle House Workers Demand $25 an Hour
Workers at Waffle House locations across the southern US are demanding improvements to wages and working conditions, including a $25 hourly minimum wage, an end to automatic meal deductions from paychecks, and increased security and natural disaster plans. The Union of Southern Service Workers, supported by the Service Employees International Union, is circulating a petition to address these concerns. Waffle House, with over 2,100 locations and an estimated annual revenue of $1 billion, has faced criticism for its low wages and lack of respect for workers. Employees have cited issues with inconsistent scheduling, cleanliness, and a lack of general respect. The company has not responded to requests for comment.
