IBM has launched Watsonx, a suite of machine learning tools, hardware, models, data storage, and consulting services aimed at helping enterprise managers integrate AI within their existing product stacks. Watsonx includes Watsonx.ai, Watsonx.data, and Watsonx.governance, with Watsonx.ai offering pre-trained foundation models curated by IBM and access to Hugging Face's library of open-source models. The suite also includes a data store service built on an open lakehouse and tools for mitigating the risk of applying AI models to sensitive customer data. IBM plans to integrate many of these tools into its existing product portfolio.

IBM is reimagining its Watson supercomputer platform as an AI development studio called Watsonx, which will provide companies with a series of training models to build, train, scale, and deploy their own AI platforms. The platform will offer foundation and open-source models, including datasets focused on generating code for developers, handling industry-specific databases, and planning for natural disasters. Watsonx is expected to be available in stages, starting with the Watsonx.ai studio in July, and expanding with new features debuting later this year.

IBM has launched Watsonx, a platform that provides tools to build AI models and access to pretrained models for generating computer code, text and more. The platform aims to help businesses overcome barriers to adopting AI, such as trust and transparency issues and privacy concerns. IBM is offering seven pretrained models to businesses using Watsonx.ai, including fm.model.code, which generates code, fm.model.NLP, a collection of large language models, and fm.model.geospatial, a model built on climate and remote sensing data from NASA. IBM is also offering Watsonx.data, a data store designed for both governed data and AI workloads, and Watsonx.governance, a toolkit that provides mechanisms to protect customer privacy, detect model bias and drift, and help organizations meet ethics standards.

IBM is launching WatsonX, a development studio for companies to "train, tune and deploy" machine-learning models. The platform includes an AI-generated code feature, an AI governance toolkit, and a library of thousands of large-scale AI models. IBM is partnering with HuggingFace, and clients and collaborators so far include SAP, NASA, Wix, and PyTorch. The new AI tools are expected to be integrated most easily into areas like customer care, procurement, cybersecurity, and elements of supply chain and IT operations.
