Panama Canal Implements Stricter Daily Transit Limit - Splash247
The Panama Canal Authority has decided to further reduce daily transits and maximum draft at the neopanamax locks due to ongoing drought conditions caused by El Nino. Starting from November 1, daily transits will be reduced to 31, split between nine through the neopanamax locks and 22 through the panamax locks. The canal has already reduced waiting times and expects draft and transit restrictions to continue throughout the first half of next year.
