Political Divide Deepens Over Treatment of Jan. 6 Defendants in DC Jail
House Democrats who visited the Washington, D.C. jail where Jan. 6 insurrectionists are being held said the defendants showed no remorse for their actions. The visit was organized by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) following criticism from some Republicans about the conditions in the jail and about the defendants being held without bail. Democrats said the defendants are being treated fairly and have access to medical care 24 hours a day, tablets for entertainment, and can communicate with their families. Rep. Robert Garcia (D-Calif.) said Greene is "lying" about the conditions in the jail.
