The Office of Gov. Jim Justice denied reports of being under investigation for the "Do it for Babydog" vaccine lottery after CBS News reported that they were. The lottery was launched to encourage people to get vaccinated and offered prizes such as trucks, boats, scholarships, and cash. However, some winners were surprised by the tax bills they received for their prizes. The governor's office received a subpoena for lottery-related records, but they claim that they were cleared of any wrongdoing by the U.S. Attorney's office. West Virginia spent nearly $21 million on the lottery prizes.
