Houthis Claim Attacks as USS Eisenhower Deployment Extended in Red Sea
The deployment of the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower carrier strike group in the Red Sea has been extended by at least another month to continue countering Houthi munitions and drone attacks. The decision, signed by Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, comes amid ongoing Houthi threats to shipping lanes in the region. The carrier group, which includes destroyers USS Gravely and USS Mason, and cruiser USS Philippine Sea, has been active in intercepting and targeting Houthi operations for over seven months.
