Microsoft has patched a popular bypass that allowed users to set up Windows 11 without linking a Microsoft Account by using a blocked email address. This change forces users to enter a valid Microsoft Account during setup, although an alternative method using Command Prompt still exists.
Roku disclosed a new data breach affecting 576,000 user accounts, following an earlier breach affecting 15,000 accounts. Microsoft's Windows 11 Insider preview build 23435 includes a new "badging" advertising scheme that appears as small messages hovering above the sign-out button when clicking on the Start menu. The ads highlight the benefits of signing up for a Microsoft account, OneDrive, Microsoft's Office replacement (365), and other security services. Microsoft claims that this will help users recognize the benefits of signing up for its services, but users can currently disable these ads by navigating through Windows settings.
