Colorado Rapids player suspended amid sports gambling investigation and match-fixing scandal.
Colorado Rapids winger Max Alves has been suspended by the team amid allegations of unlawful sports gambling. MLS is conducting an investigation into the matter, which also involves a former player. Alves has been linked to an investigation in Brazil, where he allegedly received $12,000 to receive a yellow card in a match against the LA Galaxy in 2022. He is also accused of putting former Houston Dynamo player Zeca in touch with the organization making the payments and was supposed to take part in match fixing on MLS' Decision Day in 2022.
