Lansing police are seeking the public's help in identifying the body of a man found in the Grand River. The man, described as approximately 5'10" and 165 pounds with a full beard and mustache, was discovered between E. César Chavez Ave and Oakland south of the fish ladder. The man found dead inside a 55-gallon drum at Malibu Lagoon has been identified as 32-year-old Javonnta Murphy. The barrel was initially spotted by a park maintenance worker and later retrieved by a lifeguard, who made the gruesome discovery. Authorities believe the high tide may have carried the barrel into the lagoon from the ocean. Detectives are searching for clues and witnesses to aid in the murder investigation.
