A human case of West Nile virus has been confirmed in Trumbull County, Ohio, marking the first such case in the area, with health officials urging precautions against mosquito bites and breeding sites to prevent further infections.
Two Burger King locations in Trumbull County, Ohio, have closed due to bankruptcy and sale as a franchise operator in England takes over most of the other locations. The Karali Group, based in London, bought 27 of the 90 Burger Kings owned by TOMS King, including 14 locations in Mahoning, Trumbull, and Columbiana counties. The Burger Kings in Howland and Warren did not receive any bids and were closed. TOMS King is still going through bankruptcy court.
FirstEnergy crews are working to restore power to the remaining 19,000 outages in the Valley and other areas after high winds caused widespread damage on Saturday. Ohio Edison reported 152,900 homes and businesses in northern and central Ohio lost power due to the storm. Trumbull County had the most extensive outages with 8,463 or 10% of the county still in the dark by 4:30 a.m. Monday. Penn Power reported approximately 54,900 customers in its western Pennsylvania lost power due to the storm on Saturday.
