Severe Storms Cause Widespread Power Outages in North Carolina

Over 15,000 people are without power in Greensboro, North Carolina, and several more are experiencing outages throughout the Triad region after severe thunderstorms hit the area. The majority of the outages are concentrated in Greensboro, with over 1,800 people affected in the Idle Acres area, 1,800+ near West Market Street, over 2,800 in the Battleground Avenue area, and over 5,000 in the North O Henry Boulevard area. Restoration times vary, and tree limb damage is a major cause of the outages.

Storms Clearing Out, Chilly Sunday Ahead for Triad and D.C. with Severe Thunderstorm Watch in Lowcountry.

The final line of storms for Saturday is moving through the Triad, with showers and occasional lightning strikes expected. Sunshine will return once the line of rain/storms moves further east. Sunday morning will be chilly with temperatures in the 40s, but sunshine will dominate throughout the day with afternoon temperatures in the mid to upper 60s. An unsettled weather pattern takes over for the second half of the week with rain returning on Wednesday and continuing through Friday and Saturday.
