A study conducted by the University of Eastern Finland reveals that exposure to ultrafine particles from traffic emissions can significantly alter gene expression in human olfactory mucosa cells. The study found that both renewable and fossil diesel emissions disrupt various cellular functions, but renewable diesel, especially when combined with cleaner engine technology, causes fewer adverse effects.
