"Ultra-Fast Exoplanet Orbits Star in Record Time"
Astronomers using NASA's TESS have discovered a new ultra-short-period exoplanet, TOI-1437 b, nearly twice the size of Earth and orbiting its host star in less than a day. This finding adds to the 7,000 candidate exoplanets identified by TESS, with 417 confirmed so far. The planet's characteristics, such as its mass, radius, and orbit, suggest it may have an Earth-like composition and a high-mean-molecular-weight atmosphere. Additionally, another smaller planet, TOI-1437 c, was detected in the same system. Further observations, possibly with the James Webb Space Telescope, are needed to confirm these findings.
