
Newly-Elected WV Lawmaker Arrested for Threatening Colleagues
Joseph de Soto, an incoming West Virginia state lawmaker, was arrested for allegedly threatening to kill fellow lawmakers after a meeting discussing his potential expulsion from the Republican caucus. De Soto, who recently switched his party affiliation to Democrat, was charged with making threats of terrorist acts, a felony, with a bond set at $300,000. The threats reportedly targeted several Republican lawmakers, including House Speaker Roger Hanshaw. De Soto's defense attorney stated he has pleaded not guilty and is presumed innocent.
