California Cities Unite to Secure Permanent Homelessness Funding

The League of California Cities is rallying for the state to invest $3 billion in ongoing, permanent funding to prevent and reduce homelessness and boost affordable housing. This push for permanent funding comes as state lawmakers approved an audit request last month, which seeks to examine the effectiveness of how federal, state and local dollars have been spent on the issue of homelessness. In the past five years, the state has spent some $20 billion on this issue. However, more than 172,000 people remain unhoused in California.
