Death toll rises to 201 in Kenya starvation cult.
The death toll of a starvation cult in Kenya's Shakahola forest has risen to 201 after 22 more bodies were recovered. The cult leader, Paul Mackenzie, was accused of ordering his followers to starve themselves and their children to death so they could go to heaven before the end of the world. A commission of inquiry has been appointed by Kenyan President William Ruto to examine whether administrative or intelligence lapses contributed to the deaths. Mackenzie has not commented publicly on the accusations against him nor has he been required to enter a plea to any criminal charge.
